Getting ready for Saturday! I’m pumped, how about you?!

I am Annakai. I am female, a mind, a thought, a student, a laugh, a rider, a writer, a teacher, a sigh, a bubble, a name. I am Germany, Poland, Japan, Russia, the United States. I am rain hikes in Derbyshire, cold statues and subway running in Paris, mint thick ice cream in Québec, rooster feathers and red dust nectar in Michoacán. I am skin and sensitive organs emotive. I am stacks of books and paper and typewriters and excitement. I am San Francisco plus grey strong oceans. I am creation song, impatient opinion and grand horses. I am the arms and brains around my own.

I am from a girl who taught her parents how to be American. I am from a time when a woman was told, “you can’t graduate from college with honors AND be married with child.” A woman who breaks barriers at work and at home. I am from a woman whose kitchen is the heart, where no one leaves hungry and what is served is the most delicious. I am from a woman who knows Love and models how to Love unconditionally. I am from a woman of intellect who teaches me courage and strength and grace…

Daniel Dallabrida: Mirror Piece! Please participate!

A TPIA Artist needs your help: DANIEL DALLLABRIDA needs our help on a project he is working on. He sent me the following message to send out to everyone I know. This won’t take long. Please participate!

Mirror Piece: An Invitation To Be a Reflection

• I am creating a work using multiple self-portraits. As many as I can collect in the next 48 hours. My deadline is tight. Go to the mirror now.

• Take a picture of yourself using a mirror. Some portion of the frame or border of the mirror must be visible in the picture.

• You may photo any part or all of your body. The camera/phone may be in the photo.

• The image height should be greater than the width. Portrait, not landscape.

• The image may be simple or complex. Intuitive or staged.

• Email the photo to me at dallabrida@mac.com by end of day Tuesday, April 20, 2010

• By participating, you certify that you consider this work to be in no way unique and that it might be reproduced at any time or place by myself or any other person (either acting on my behalf or acting independently). You, like me, surrender your image to situation, structure, system, material, etc.

• Pass this invitation along to anyone you think might be interested.
